In a small village in Africa, about 2 hours from Ghana, lives a group of villagers and a chief. Today, I am wearing earrings from a beautiful lady that I met in that village. After my visit, she gave me the most valuable thing that she owned. I was humbled beyond belief (it is rude to refuse gifts in that culture). They are gold and modeled after the chief's stool. It is a symbol of power and priviledge.
I was glad that we had been warned to bring gifts because the people would be generous with the little they had. They are a generous and kind people.
Today I am thinking of my friends in Africa, and thinking about the vast difference between their lives and ours. Today I give thanks for my many blessings. I'm wearing the earrings in the shape of a chief's stool direct from Africa that represents power and priviledge. Life is a wild ride.
